Stunning Outdoor Country Wedding in Rural Alberta

As a farmer’s wife myself, it’s safe to say I have a soft spot for a country wedding in Rural Alberta. Today, I’m sharing one of my absolute favorite weddings from this past year, that took place south of Edmonton near Castor. The bride and groom wanted a country wedding that incorporated their love for the outdoors and embraced the natural beauty of Alberta’s rolling hills. It was absolutely stunning from start to finish and I can’t wait to share some of my favorite moments here with you today.

Western Wedding Details

I always love when my couples wear cowboy boots! First, I had so much fun capturing the gorgeous details and wedding rings alongside their cowboy boots. But, I think my favorite shots are the ones I took of her in her wedding dress putting them on. The entire morning was filled with sweet moments: from our sweet groom’s mother helping him with his boutonniere to our bride’s mother helping her into her wedding dress. It was a true family affair!

An Outdoor First Look Before Their Wedding in Rural Alberta

Because the wedding took place on a picturesque family property, we were blessed with complete freedom in terms of timeline and backdrops. Once both the bride and groom were ready, I carefully positioned them outside, next to a charming patch of trees. Behind them sprawled acres of breathtaking farm fields, creating a stunning backdrop that never gets old to me.

As a wedding photographer, I must admit, it was one of those truly emotional moments that make my heart skip a beat. It’s always a joy when couples opt for a first look before the ceremony, as it adds an extra layer of anticipation and intimacy to their special day. I highly recommend adding it to your timeline if you are on the fence.

Farm Wedding Ceremony

Next, let’s have a moment for their ceremony. With two wine barrels anchoring a circular arch adorned with florals, it was the perfect backdrop for these two to say their I Do’s. Guests watched on rows of hay bails as they exchanged rings and shared their first kiss as husband and wife. Once they signed the papers and made it official, they celebrated as they walked back down the aisle as Alberta’s newest newlyweds!

Alberta Farm Wedding Photos

Their farm wedding photos are truly my favorites of all time. Following the ceremony, the couple decided to capture some moments on the farm, and it turned out to be the perfect backdrop. To add to the perfection, we had some cows in the background while the lovebirds popped their champagne. After that, the wedding party joined in the fun for group photos. The bridesmaids wore mismatched dresses in various jewel tones, beautifully complementing their bouquets. It really was pure magic.

Wedding Reception in Castor,Alberta

The town of Castor had rolled out the red carpet for the bride and groom. All of their family and friends gathered at a beautiful local venue with twinkling lights, wooden accents, and rustic decor. The couple had thoughtfully selected each detail to create a romantic atmosphere for their guests. Two of my favorite details were the wine bottle seating chart and the donut wall dessert table! After dinner, they were treated to an unforgettable first dance, followed by heartfelt speeches and exuberant music and dancing late into the night. It truly was a magical evening filled with laughter, love, and celebration!
